A couple of years ago, Mr. Van Over (President of Premier Martial Arts International) and I had a conversation about developing a competition circuit for PMA. We wanted it to reflect the arts that we teach and give students an opportunity to experience competition the way it was meant to be.
During our conversation Mr. Van Over laid out a vision of local, regional, and national level competitions for kickboxing, grappling, and mma. He challenged me to help develop and establish the central U.S. region. I accepted.
I am excited to announce the first PMA Kickboxing Tournament! This will be a point kickboxing tournament for juniors ages 6-17. Point Kickboxing is semi-contact, meaning no knockouts are allowed. It is scored just like Kickboxing/Muay Thai. This is NOT sport karate- only kickboxing techniques are allowed.
We have partnered with the IKF to provide competitors and coaches the best experience possible. This also gives our students more exposure and opportunity. Pont Kickboxing is a great way to for students to transition from traditional martial arts into Kickboxing or Muay Thai. It is also a great way to transition into full contact. Point Kickboxing is judged on “skill” not just “will” this provides for more technical fights, which means students get better.
This tournament is open to only PMA schools and students. Please download the registration form or see an instructor for more information.
